ABSTRACT
Lower UTI may be acute, chronic or recurrent as well as being simple or complex. Infection is characterized by large numbers of microorganisms and leukocytes in the urine. The natural history is dependent on the type and virulence of the urinary pathogen, resistance to antimicrobial agents, and host defences.
