ABSTRACT

Dilated cardiomyopathy Dilated cardiomyopathy is a myocardial disease not usually associated with structural or pericardial abnormalities in the fetus. Global myocardial insufficiency occurs as a result of dysfunction of isolated cardiomyocytes. For this reason, the complexity within each cell determines the site of cellular function impairment. Dilated cardiomyopathy may affect the right ventricle, the left ventricle, or both ventricles during fetal life.
