ABSTRACT

DESIGN AND ENGINEERING-CONTAINMENT APPLICATIONS This chapter describes key points to consider in the design and engineering of a containment isolator. It specifically discusses considerations for the product such as operator exposure limits (OEL), the scale of the operation, process flow, dedicated or multiproduct use, dedicated or multipurpose use, sizes of the containers, quantities being transferred, the method of transfer, weighing requirements, the effect on materials of construction, the hazard classification (need for inert purging), cleaning requirements, and the method of sampling.
