ABSTRACT

INTRODUCTION Scars can affect a high percentage of patients with acne and can occur early. Two features in scar development are important: (a) its severity, and (b) the delay before an adequate treatment. It is, therefore, important to inform patients with inflammatory acne (from papular-pustular to nodular-cystic) that they have a high risk of scar development.(1)

Dermoepidermal wound is characterized by a cascade of events that culminate in scar development at the site of tissue damage. Morphology of scars varies among patients: This variability depends on intrinsic and extrinsic factors, resulting in the development of a normal or a pathologic scar.
