ABSTRACT

INTRODUCTION Guidelines analyze and summarize all available data and evidence on specific issues with the aim to help physicians in the selection of the best therapies, taking into account the risk/benefit ratio. Experts in the field are selected by large scientific societies, such as the American College of Cardiology (ACC), the American Heart Association (AHA), and the European Society of Cardiology (ESC), and undertake a comprehensive review of the published evidence for management and/or prevention of a given condition (1-5).
