ABSTRACT

The aortic valve (AoV) is part of the aortic root. Pathology involving the AoV can originate from, or be caused by, its intimacy with surrounding structures. Echocardiography has become the standard tool to diagnose and evaluate AoV pathology. This chapter will review the echocardiographic features related to normal and pathological findings associated with aortic stenosis (AS) and aortic regurgitation (AR).
