ABSTRACT
FACIAL CLEANSERS Facial cleansers are another important part of the cosmeceutical compliment. Cleansers act as surfactants that decrease facial sebum, bacteria, and environmental dirt. They can also hydrate or conversely strip the skin. Facial cleansers have been debated for years as to whether or not they actually deliver active ingredients to the skin. The main debate is over the short amount of contact time with the cleanser to the skin. I am on the side of those scientists and clinicians who believe that short contact with an effective active ingredient in the form of a cleanser does improve the skin.
