ABSTRACT

The desire to look more youthful is as old as civilization. The hieroglyphics of ancient Egypt depicted the painted faces of Pharaohs and commoners alike, and cosmetics have been a staple of every society ever since ( 1 ). The face is unique in that it is the very essence of one's identity. Unfortunately, the aging process on the face is as visible to others as it is to us every time we look in the mirror. When we begin to look too much like our grandparents and not enough like the youthful selves that we still feel ourselves to be, perhaps it is time to consider cosmetic procedures that can unwind a few years off the clock.
