ABSTRACT
Nevi with eccentric hyperpigmentation are often referred to as melanoma simulators, since this pigmentation type may also occur in melanoma. However, in nevi the focus of hyperpigmentation typically reveals the same pattern as seen in the rest of the nevus, whereas melanoma often exhibits either an overall asymmetry of patterns or different features within the area of hyperpigmentation (Arevalo et al., 2008).
