ABSTRACT

Once biopsy confirmation of a pre-cancerous lesion is available, it is important to fully identify the whole extent of the lesion in the vagina so that a tailored procedure can be planned and the patient may understand the extent of the surgery and its impact upon her sexual function. Where a complete vaginectomy is contemplated, replacement of function should be planned with Plastic Surgical colleagues for the development of a neo-vagina (see chapter 9).
