Indications In gynecologic oncology, hysterectomy has been performed either as part of the treatment and staging of endometrial, ovarian, or fallopian tube carcinoma, in the form of intra-or
avoid injury to the ureter. Retroperitoneal or intraperitoneal ureteral dissection should be performed when there are severe adhesions or tumor involvement between the ovary and the pelvic side-wall. The adnexa should be grasped with the forceps and retracted medially and caudally to stretch and outline the infundibulopelvic ligaments before application of the bipolar forceps or linear stapling device ( Fig. 6 ).
