DEFINITION RBC alloimmunization, formerly known as isoimmunization, or erythroblastosis fetalis, is the formation of maternal antibodies to fetal RBC antigens (1). Maternal RBC alloimmunization can cause hemolytic disease of the fetus/neonate.
