It may be necessary to treat the nephrotic syndrome with steroids, which requires early and repeat screening for gestational diabetes (GDM).
Long-Term Prognosis Relates to the specific diagnosis. Most evidence suggests that pregnancy does not worsen or accelerate the overall disease process in women with primary glomerular disease, at least at five-year follow-up (33). The exception to this appears to be women with membranous glomerulonephritis, who do worse after experiencing a pregnancy.
