ABSTRACT
BACKGROUND The field of maternal critical care remains insufficiently researched. While many recommendations in critical care are based on good evidence, little is specifically focused on pregnant or postpartum women. Much of this chapter will, perforce, address general critical care, extrapolating to maternal critical care whenever possible.
