ABSTRACT

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is an ancient medical science in China. TCM is based on the collected and valuable experiences gained from the battle of the Chinese people against disease over thousands of years, and has become an important component in Chinese culture. TCM is a science of the physiology and pathology of the human body as well as the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases under the guidance of its unique theory – a theory that is deeply influenced by both ancient philosophy and accumulated clinical experience. It originated thousands of years ago and came to maturity a few hundred years before Christ. The earliest classical book on TCM, Huang Di Nei Jing, was written during The Period of Spring-Autumn War State 475-221 BC. Huang Di Nei Jing set up the underlying theory of TCM, and laid the foundation for its contemporary practice.
