ABSTRACT

Adipose tissue tumors are the most common soft tissue tumors. They can occur

at any age and in almost any anatomic location. The vast majority of adipocytic

tumors are benign lipomas and are easily diagnosed and treated. However,

beyond lipomas, identification of other types of benign and malignant adipocytic

tumors can be challenging. Misdiagnosis can lead to ineffective treatment and

related comorbidities. Therefore, it is critical to fully understand the clinical

manifestations of adipocytic tumors in order to provide optimal patient care. This

chapter summarizes clinical features, prognosis, and treatment of some of the

most common benign and malignant adipocytic tumors.
