ABSTRACT
In this chapter, we outline some of the key issues in top executive pay in France. We do not intend the account here to be a comprehensive review. The complexity of the subject makes this impossible, and readers can draw on Chapter 4, where cross-European corporate governance regulations on director-level pay are described. This chapter concentrates on performance standards and the measurement of performance typically found at this level, together with the related trends in variable pay for directors.
