ABSTRACT

In a book that has its foundation in the dramas of catastrophe, terrorism, risks and dangers, the issue of insurance might appear to be somewhat sedate, something akin to asking First Lady Lincoln what she thought of the play. Yet, insurance provision is the economic corollary and consequence of the topics discussed elsewhere in this book. From mid-2001 onwards the issue of the ‘ public liability’ crisis, in combination with the collapse of Ansett Airlines and the terrorist attacks on Eastern America, clouded the horizons of Queensland 's tourism industry.
