ABSTRACT
On the morning of August 17, 2002, Jason Walter, CEO of Pharma First Europe (PFE), the European head office of Pharma First International (PFI), was on a flight back to Munich. He had just spent a week in Moscow, where the company was considering expanding its operations in the next 12 months. He was only a few hours away from his office in Munich, where he knew he would have to tackle issues that had been bothering him for some time. The flight would give him the opportunity to think things through before the important event that was to take place that afternoon: the managers’ meeting for all of PFI’s European subsidiaries. Jason was nervous and worried about this meeting.
