STAGE A - CAPTURE AND EDIT STEP 1 – CHOOSING AN IMAGE Select or create a softly lit colour portrait image (diffused sunlight or window lighting would be ideal). The image selected should have detail in both the highlights and shadows and should have a range of colours and tones. An image with high contrast and missing detail in the highlights or shadows is not suitable for testing the effectiveness of the capture or output device.
