ABSTRACT

At the start of the new millennium, it is possible to identify a number of diversity challenges to Western Europe that will continue to affect society and require action on the part of both public and private sectors (Simons, 2000). Often these cultural issues lie beneath ongoing E.U. issues. For example, many Europeans agree that the Anglo-French fight over British beef was an example of a situation where 36more smoke than light was generated. The more recent mad cow disaster started as a local U.K. problem and became a global European issue with ongoing cultural undertones.
