ABSTRACT

Photoshop can liquify an image, but for more precise distortion use Adobe Illustrator. The interface in Illustrator is called envelope distort, and it is very similar to the warp text interface in Photoshop. Most people know that it can be used to distort a vector object, but if you embed a placed image you can do this to a bitmapped object. Open in Illustrator Chapter 30/Michelob_Ultra.psd and you will give this bottle an hourglass figure. The Open command in Illustrator in this situation creates a new Illustrator file using the same name as the image you open, and embeds the image in the center with crop marks. You will get a prompt as whether to preserve the layers, choose either option as there only is one layer.
