ABSTRACT

Many of the wines are exported to discerning consumers worldwide and can be found in restaurants from London to Melbourne, Sydney to New York. A winery was built alongside the vines in 1971, and Vasse Felix released its first vintage. These first Margaret River wines were introduced to the public through cellar door sales and tastings. In 1988, in response to growing public interest, a restaurant was built the winery using local stone and recycled wood. Whilst Vasse Felix is first and foremost a producer of fine wines and not in the business of entertainment or food they represent an important aspect of the image and marketing. It is also recognized that the promotion of wine has a strong synergy with the arts. The new arts facility will also provide the opportunity for customers to purchase Vasse Felix wine and merchandise, further increasing the label's exposure.
