Identifying competitors for a spa requires the spa to predetermine its exact positioning and segmentation within the industry. Segmentation within the spa industry allows consumers to identify the types of services they would like to experience. As the spa industry matures and expands spas are targeting specific consumers through targeted services and marketing. Examples of Industry Segmentations include (International Spa Association, 2004):
