ABSTRACT

Approximately half of the population of most industrialized countries is now using complementary medicine as a part of their general healthcare and also for wellness and preventive purposes ( Bodeker et al., 2005 ). A growing body of research published in the scientific literature (e.g. www.ecam.oxfordjournals.org , www.jacm.acm.org ) attests to the clinical benefits of acupuncture, Ayurvedic and Chinese herbal treatments, various forms of massage, meditation, yoga, qi gong and many of the other traditional or indigenous therapies that are increasingly utilized in the spa industry.
