ABSTRACT

This chapter deals with management from the client's side of the desk. It discusses the shed light on how each party approaches any given job and suggests some methods and insights that can help smooth the way. Multimedia projects often require the services of specialty subcontractors such as animation houses, programmers, and video crews. Every multimedia project requires interaction between a diverse cross section of people with varying levels of job skills and interpersonal skills. The average multimedia project has a number of critical milestones that must be met either with client supervision or client approval. The project point person must make sure the dollars required for each payment are within the approval range of the highest level of management that is familiar with the project. A project was begun with great enthusiasm, high-fives, and a flurry of activity on the part of the vendor to secure the long-term services of a writer, programmer, and instructional designer.
