ABSTRACT

A medium for deep pockets in a hurry, or for building an archive, component recording video (CRV) is a recordable upgrade of the original optical LaserDisc. It is created for fast turnaround using a one-off disc burner much like the older direct read and write disc process used in creating one-off video check discs prior to mastering. The CRV disc is more expensive to produce, but can generate red, green, blue or component video with a higher quality than the standard video disc and it has other features including multiple track sound. The secret of the CRV disc's quality advantage over the standard optical LaserDisc is the ability to produce superior images one disc at a time. Component video separates the two signals and processes each separately. The CRV disc recorder is designed to keep the separation intact and thereby produce a better quality image. The disc will only play back on a CRV player.
