ABSTRACT

Top: the restored medieval gatehouse that sits over the entrance. This was built by a parishioner who used timbers from the church and dates from 1595 and (restored 1916). Middle: view from the former nave to the new frontage by Sir Aston Webb, 1880-1900, who gave the present church its roof . Left: what remains of the cloister. Opposite: the tomb of the founder, 1405, set within the Norman structure. The church was saved from demolition by Thomas Hardwick’s repairs in 1790-1.
