Better understand tourism development in the developing world including its importance in the Pacific region;
Comprehend and dismiss some of the main misconceptions related to an alternative form of tourism development;
Understand the process of tourism entrepreneurship in a number of South Pacific microstates;
Identify and understand the role of the public sector in developing sustainable tourism in Fiji through policies to support indigenous SME development;
Understand and explain some of the key barriers to sustainable and ecotourism development in the Fiji Island;
Understand the cultural distance between consumers and producers in the context of a sustainable and commercially viable ecotourism development on Lomanikaya island, Fiji; and
