There has been multicamera madness since the first-documented multicamera shoot in 1898, followed by the first multicamera live broadcast in 1928. Inventors, craftsmen, and filmmakers have been experimenting and perfecting multicam techniques. Multicam film editing started in 1951 and electronic editing grew between the early ‘ 70s and 1999. In 1992, when Avid introduced multicam editing for nonlinear digital edit suites. In 1998, Patrick O'Connor, Tom Ohanian and their team won the Emmy™ Award for multicamera editing software on the Avid and paved the way for a new chapter in postproduction—and this book.
