ABSTRACT

The site could cover a region, district, zone or plot but would always look beyond its' own border to consider adjoining land to either suggest influence or inform its' own outputs. A master-plan will describe a vision for the development of a large site in words and drawings. A well-conceived master-plan will include proposals drawn in three dimensions, taking into consideration massing and scale and the location and role of open space. Master-plan has become an often misused term to illustrate the mechanism for design and delivery of large projects over extended time periods. Master-plans vary in their portrayal of architectural and urban design vision. Place making and high quality environment requires the master-plan to promote high standards in landscape and architecture even if not prescriptive about other aspects. Images will be used to capture special aspects of development through wide angle aerial or ground level views.
