ABSTRACT
This concluding chapter reflects on issues raised by the separate contributions, focusing specifically on women’s active engagement in politics and with the state. To that extent its perspective could be seen as ‘bottom up’, as distinct from the ‘top down’ perspective of the opening chapter. However heuristically and organisationally helpful such a distinction may be, it must be qualified.
