Addressing the learning skills needs of students at a distance

In this chapter we look at a particular project, set up within the Open University UK, to produce generic learning skills materials that would support a large and diverse student body. The project aimed to develop, simultaneously, both paper-and web-based resources which would be available to all our students free of charge and on request.
