ABSTRACT

Clearly, there is a need for Internet-based technologies that address the availability of information and the ability to exchange seamlessly and process it across different applications in different organisational units. Consequently, the e-business world has been growing at an unprecedented pace and new market realities, such as the software agent paradigm, have emerged. This chapter is based on a project that explores the role of agents in Construction Industry-specific e-business. The project focuses on developing an agent-based prototype system for use in the specification and procurement of construction products on the Internet.
