ABSTRACT

Analytic models of negotiation are formal models which use simple and elegant notations to describe the process of negotiation in abstract and, therefore, very general terms. They are used to analyse the ways of thinking that may occur in negotiation and bargaining, and to explain why they may have certain effects. It is a matter of controversy to what extent such models are useful in guiding our understanding of particular cases.
