ABSTRACT
Short, victorious wars rarely teach profound lessons. On many levels this was true of the Falklands War fought in the spring of 1982. The Ministry of Defence’s own report on the war opened with the words: ‘The Falklands Campaign was in many respects unique. We must be cautious, therefore, in deciding which lessons of the Campaign are relevant.’1
