ABSTRACT
THE first time you are sent to court as a reporter can be a daunting experience. The buildings, old or new, are grim and forbidding. The police, lawyers and court officials speak in legal jargon. If you are lucky you will find an experienced court reporter to show you the ropes, introduce you to people and warn you about the terrible acoustics. You will still have a lot to learn.
