ABSTRACT
In this chapter, I explore how we might frame questions about creativity in higher education (HE) through the perspective of complex adaptive systems, emphasising the concept of emergence. Emergence denotes the process through which novel ideas, social forms and patterns of behaviour arise in an uncoordinated way through human interaction. It is a powerful concept that can help us consider how creativity happens in practice.
