Judging by the subtitle of the chapter, one would expect Reinert to test the merits of such a hypothesis by singling out, as a case in point, the opposing views of List and Cobden on the repeal of the Corn Laws. However, the content of the chapter tends to be more diverse in nature than just focusing on this question and as such does not aid the clarity of the arguments posited.
