ABSTRACT
This chapter is designed to help you clarify your understanding of the concept of confidentiality and use that understanding in your practice as an informal education worker. ‘What if scenarios are used to explore the meaning of confidentiality and enable you to apply this to your professional practice, recognising that this practice is not only a personal responsibility but is set in the context of the organisation you work for (paid or voluntary) and its role in society.
