ABSTRACT
ABSTRACT: On December 13, 2000, the northbound approach span of the Hoan Bridge on I794 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin failed by brittle fracture. Two of the three welded plate girders of the 66.45 m approach end span were fractured full depth leaving only one partially cracked girder supporting the span. This paper summarizes the failure assessment.
