ABSTRACT
This introduction is intended to contextualize the book as effectively as is briefly possible, bearing in mind that different readers will be approaching it from different directions and with different backgrounds. It contains indicative sections on the Maha¯bha¯rata, and on Gender Studies and its interface with the text, before turning to consider the structure and layout of the rest of the book.
