ABSTRACT

The aim of this contribution is to provide a conceptual framework for the analysis of privatization processes in east-central Europe since the beginning of the present decade, within the broader context of systemic transformation. The ideas in this paper were developed during and after an International Round Table on Enterprise Restructuring through Systemic Change in New Delhi in December 1995. In particular, the most critica l determinants of the privatization process and the key interrelationships between the latter and the changing systemic environment of the transitional economies will be discussed.
