ABSTRACT
Technological changes that provide the infrastructure for and promote the convergence of telecommunications and broadcasting are discussed in this paper. Since a wide variety of technologies are under development around the world which may affect the convergence of telecommunications and broadcasting, this presentation will refer to technologies that have become standard in one form or another, as these standards represent in a way a consensus view of the industry as to which technologies should be adopted in commercial operations and products in the coming 3 to 5 years.
