ABSTRACT
Unfortunately,therefore,wehavenooptionbuttoadmitinto ourresearchthePortugueseversionofthenumerouseventsthat tookplaceduringtheperiodofthatnation'spredominanceinthe region.Inviewofthis,itisimportanttomentiontheCrusaderwar thatenduredinNorthAfricauntilafterthefallofGranada,thelast MuslimstrongholdinSpain,inasmuchasthePortugueseregarded themselvesassoldiersoftheCrossdoingbattlewiththeMuslims,as indicatedbythefollowing:
1.TheirtieswiththeNegusofAbyssiniaandthelatter's insistenceontheformationofaChristianalliancetowagewar againsttheMuslimsandtopropagateChristianityacrossnew frontiers.
