ABSTRACT

There have been several excellent reviews of the literature concerning children’s out-of-school notions about scientific matters: Driver and Easley (1978), Sutton (1980), West et al. (1983), Driver and Erickson (1983), Gilbert and Watts (1983) and Driver (1991). Each of these provides, in its own way, both a guide to the field of research and a survey of published work in it. Pfundt and Duit (1991) provide a comprehensive bibliography.
