ABSTRACT
All religions begin with fetishism, the worship of natural objects or animals, of weapons or implements. It had a great influence upon the moral Hfe of the lEgeans. Even after they had given a human form to their divinities, they never ceased to worship, at different times, rough or hewn stones, the axe and the shield, and all kinds of trees and animals.
