ABSTRACT

When evil precepts flourish and men neglect truth, when sound opinions are not held, what shall people do to be saved? Then the world is turned upside down, wild grasses flourish, and useful plants wither. The land laments this desolation which must only end in death. Even true and righteous patriots are overcome with tears. Even benevolent sages sorrow so excessively that they wring out their sleeves in sympathy. Mischievous and perverse opinions frequently poison the mind of the people and bring chaos into society. Such nations will never succeed in encouraging true wisdom nor in stimulating to worthy endeavour the hearts of men. All who are indignant at this state of affairs should apply themselves to the cultivation of righteousness, and the acquisition of nobility. They should seek the true peace of society, and endeavour to ensure the tranquillity of the realm. In our modern world social intercourse grows more complicated with each passing year. Social changes take place more frequently with the passage of time. Humanity competes in new ways every day. It is a period in which it is very easy to fall into the bad habit of rejecting every old and established fashion. At such a time we must concentrate on eliminating what is evil and demonstrating what is true. At such a time it is essential to suppress wickedness and encourage true nobility. At such a time it is necessary to make clear the great principles upon which this Empire is founded. All mischievous teachings which do not accord with our national objectives must be ruthlessly exposed and eliminated. Our unassailable supremacy in this world is due to our vigilance in this respect. This is never to be forgotten.
