ABSTRACT
Introduction Its skyline is an important element through which the city has profiled itself throughout history. On royal seals in the Middle Ages, the city was often represented with a prominent place reserved for the principal and often tallest buildings. Even now, fridge magnets, glasses, t-shirts and postcards of city views are sold in large numbers. The skyline and buildings that form it compose the image of the city.
