By building Lyceum ourselves, we aim to maintain several distinct advantages. As stated earlier, true audio/graphic synchronization is extremely difficult to achieve for live events, and doing it ourselves lets us address the synchronization issues directly. Among the many benefits afforded by our own approach is that it is truly cross-platform, and builds on a simple production philosophy based on a slide-show metaphor. While we never advocate slide shows as the best method of teaching, they do have the advantage of being familiar! We have also built it so that different audio compression tools can be plugged in as and when they become available and Lyceum is designed by us to work seamlessly across corporate firewalls.
